Hate Mornings? This 1 Thing Will Make You Want To Get Up Early
Do you hate getting up early?
If so, you’ve probably clung to the advice that you need a solid 8 hours of sleep and used that as a shield to defend yourself against you’re irritatingly productive 5 am friends. After all, according to the CDC, adults aged 18-60 need 7 or more hours of sleep EVERY night. So, you’re just doing what’s recommended, right?
Not so fast.
New research suggests that getting too much sleep, 8 hours or more, could be BAD for you. Here’s the science.
The Link Between Oversleeping & Your Lifespan
That’s right, if you sleep more than 9 hours per night, you could be at risk for dying early.
Professor Franco Cappuccio, professor of Cardiovascular medicine of epidemiology at the University of Warwick, analyzed 16 studies of more than a million people where individuals were asked about their sleep habits.
Later, they were followed up by researchers. Those who slept more than eight hours per night were at risk for dying earlier than their six to eight-hour counterparts. A full 30% more of people who slept longer had died!
Compare that with only 16% of people who slept less than 6 hours per night had died, and you can see why the world’s elite recommend getting up earlier than the average Jane or Joe. In all seriousness, Professor Cappuccio concluded from the study that underlying health conditions may have contributed to the over sleeper’s early mortality rates.
However, another study has a different perspective. Professor Shawn Youngstedt of Arizona State University revealed that adding two hours more to your nightly sleep schedule could lead to increased depressed mood and increased inflammation.
Another group of researchers in 2014 revealed in their study that early risers suffer less from negative thinking than folks who oversleep. So, it would seem, oversleeping can be a major culprit in reducing not only the length of your life but also its quality.
Even More Motivation To Get Up Earlier Every Morning
1) MASTER YOURSELF
Anything worth doing requires sacrifice. You have to be willing to give up your comfort to do something great. If you hate mornings, then getting up early is going to be a sacrifice for you. It will take courage. Determination. And discipline. But if you can do it, and do it regularly, it can serve as the foundation for even greater self-mastery down the line.
2) More Peace
Another major benefit to getting up early is the peace and quiet. We spend so much of our time running from activity to activity that we have forgotten how to slow down and simply take it all in. Getting up early allows you to bask in the silence of the day, and center yourself for the day ahead.
3) Move Your Body
If you’re trying to lose weight or just want to get back into the gym to make your body feel better, then I highly recommend getting up earlier.
Even an extra hour early can give you more freedom to hit the gym, sweat it out, and create a healthier body all the way around.
Get Up Early To Be Healthier
One of the easiest ways to avoid the risks associated with oversleeping and take advantage of the benefits is simply to get up earlier!
