Why Do Successful People Wake Up Early?

I remember when I first came to know that a lot of successful entrepreneurs and CEOs of top multinational companies wake up really early in the morning. It was an eye-opening piece of revelation that made me realize what I had been missing all along. In fact, it’s something that most people miss due to their tendency to want to sleep until later in the morning.

Due to the excessive stress and hectic work schedules, you might feel like an extra hour of sleep in the morning will somehow give you extra juice. That might not be true. Just take a look at the daily routine of the CEOs of top corporations and you realize just how much more they get done in a day and still wake up earlier than most people.

So, it’s only natural to ask why they make early rising a priority. Could it be that it actually plays an important role in their success? Why do so many successful people make it a point to wake up early?

It’s About The Mindset

This makes sense, doesn’t it? After all, successful people have a winner’s mindset by default. That’s what leads to success in the first place and that’s what it means to be successful! It’s all about the mindset that you harbor. If you have ever heard motivational interviews or watched videos of these people, you must know that waking up early is a part of their winning strategy.

Since they also have a competitive mindset, they believe that rising earlier than everyone else gives them a headstart in the day. Naturally, they are able to get a lot more done than the average person. Elon Musk, for instance, simultaneously oversees Tesla, SpaceX, The Boring Company, Neuralink, SolarCity, and OpenAI. This is a seemingly impossible level of productivity but he actually does it! And he doesn’t sacrifice his sleep as much as you think - he sleeps for an average of 6-7 hours every night.

More Time For Healthy Habits

When it comes to healthy habits like eating properly, meditating, exercising, reading books, most people have an excuse ready for why they are not able to do them. You guessed it. The excuse is always that they don’t have time. And in a way, it is understandable. In today’s hectic lives, you start running the moment you wake up in the morning to the moment you go to sleep at night. So, including them in your schedule seems impossible.

Successful people, however, have figured out how to manage time for these indispensable activities. And they reap immense benefits for doing so. They are able to do it by just waking up early. Think about all the stuff you could do by waking just an hour earlier than you usually do. You could meditate for fifteen minutes, work out for thirty, and read a book for fifteen minutes! Now, think about what you could do if you woke up 2 hours earlier. Sometimes, it’s just that simple!

They Remain In Control

Every single day, the average person has to do countless tasks. This is especially true if you have a family. So, when you wake up late, you are already in a rushed state and every minute of the day, you are just trying to catch up to the tasks. As such, you don’t really feel like you are in control. This becomes especially important if you’re in a high-performance job or area of work.

Successful people usually like to wake up early because they like to be in control. They are able to get smaller chores out of the way before everyone else even wakes up. So, they don’t need to rush throughout the day and are able to remain calm and collected. Instead of letting the day dictate them, they dictate their day and so, they remain in control. Just the way they like it!

To Wrap Up

Most successful people are early birds. There must be a reason why that is so. Well, there are many but the most important ones are that they have a winner’s mindset, they like to remain in control, and they get time to indulge in activities that further ensure their success. It’s what differentiates them from everyone else.
